Good Poems edited by Garrison Keillor
From Garrison Keillor:
The pleasure of making this book is the chance to put poets such as Jennifer Michael Hecht and C. G. Hanzlicek and April Lindner and Ginger Andrews and Louis Jenkins into a club with Frost and Dickinson and Burns and Shakespeare.
The pain of it is to look at the book and realize who I left out who should've been here. I can think of a dozen without hesitation. I am sorry for the omissions.
But I hope that the includees know that ther poems mean a lot to people. These are poems that made people stop chewing their toasted muffins and turn up the radio and listen and later zip into our website and get the dope on the poet. Many of these poems have been deeply loved by people, and why not? They deserve to be.
Raymond Carver wrote:
From the Publisher:
America's beloved author, humorist, and storyteller offers a selection of meaningful and enjoyable poems
Every day people tune in to The Writer's Almanac on public radio and hear Garrison Keillor read them a poem. And here, for the first time, is an anthology of poems from the show, chosen by Keillor for their wit, their frankness, their passion, their "utter clarity in the face of everything else a person has to deal with at 7 a.m."
Good Poems includes verse about lovers, children, failure, everyday life, death, and transcendance. It features the work of classic poets, such as Emily Dickinson, Walt Whitman, and Robert Frost, as well as the work of contemporary greats such as Howard Nemerov, Charles Bukowski, Donald Hall, Billy Collins, Robert Bly, and Sharon Olds. It's a book of poems for anybody who loves poetry whether they know it or not.

I am indeed very grateful to Dr. Odunga for his wonderful help and I promised to testify about his work for me. My name is Abbas Shafii, I am from Oregon USA and I am a Powerball winner of 328.5 Million Dollars and this is all thanks to Dr. Odunga’s help in my life. I read about him in a testimony of Manuel Franco who he also helped to win the Powerball as well which made me contact him through his email odungaspelltemple@gmail.com then later spoke on whats-app. He told me about the process to get the jackpot numbers and I had to pay him for the work to be done. The day of the lottery he gave me the Powerball numbers without hesitation. I played the numbers that day and I felt a certain sense of feelings inside me which gave me hope. Three days later, I checked the lottery dashboard and saw that the numbers really matched with my ticket. I shouted with glee. I am happy giving this testimony and call everyone to contact Dr. Odunga today to win the lottery too. His email is odungaspelltemple@gmail.com and his Whats-app is +2348167159012
I wish to share my testimony with everyone out here. I have daily 9 to 5 jobs, but while I work I try my luck at playing instant Lotto. On this particular day, I decided to seek help online regarding tips for winning the lottery and I saw many individuals testifying about Meduza spells. I reached out to him and informed him that I needed help to win the lottery and he clarified the process to me stating that after he casts the spell, it will take 48 hours for him to provide me the winning numbers which I accepted. I followed all his instructions, and he provided me with the numbers to enter the Lottery. After the draw the following morning, I received a notification on the Lottery app on my phone indicating that I was the lucky winner of $273 million on the New Jersey Lottery and I’m here to extend my heartfelt gratitude to Meduza.
